Shopping for Courage

I went to The Courage Store –
the one with the suit of armor in the window.

“Anything in particular I can help you with today?”

“Which is your best bravery?” I asked with what I hoped
beyond hope sounded like sincere strength.

“Well that depends on your fear.” He looked me squarely in the soul,
searching for the fear that was floating not far from the surface.

“I guess…
I guess it’s only a little fear maybe I don’t need a bravery after all thank you for your time.” Turning with the color of my cheeks toward
the door.

“Wait! Little fears require courage too –
a mouse is just as good as a lion, sometimes even better.”

-----

Today I did something different. I took a contrary action. It seemed small and insignificant, but when I thought about it I realized that different kinds of fear require different kinds of bravery. So I decided that I am allowed to feel brave no matter how silly it seems.
